There are three illustrations for what comprises the city which is defined by United Nations. Cities are classified in many different criteria as all the cities are not the same. The Largest City in the World can be defined as a geographical area, urban area or metropolitan area. If we define it by the geographical area under the administrative boundaries of local government, then it is New York in the United States.

 According to the urban area and its primary commuter areas, Tokyo in Japan is the largest, and by defining by population using metropolitan area is also Tokya. In the list of the largest cities in the globe, eight are from the United States, according to the built-up land area. New York City is the world’s largest, with a land area of 12,093 km² and a population of 20,902,000 living there. The urban population density is 1728 per km².
